Since
1987, the Bristol Virginia Sheriff’s Office in partnership with the Bristol
Virginia School System has provided drug education and violence prevention
instruction to our city’s youth ages pre k thru high school. DARE
(Drug Abuse Resistance Education) places a uniformed law enforcement officer
in the school classroom setting to present drug resistance techniques and
violence prevention strategies to students in an exciting and unique way.
DARE officers of the Bristol Virginia Sheriff’s Office spend time with
students outside the classroom as well, participating in recess activities,
field trips, library
activities and physical
education. Building a relationship of trust and security, DARE
officers continue to be an effective tool in the efforts to combat substance
abuse and violence in our community.
